2024 Lund University Global Scholarship

2024 Lund University Global Scholarship

Global Scholarship at Lund University, 2024

High achievers from all over the world now look to Lund University, which is proudly placed in the top 0.4% of universities worldwide and among the top 100.

As a demonstration of its dedication to promoting academic quality and worldwide diversity, Lund University established the worldwide Scholarship Program in recognition of the extraordinary talent that congregates within its academic corridors.

Grants for Academic Excellence for Outstanding Students

The Lund University Global Scholarship program embodies the university's commitment to recognising and supporting students who achieve excellent academic standards. This program, which is designed to honour academic success, provides a venue for drawing in and assisting individuals who have a track record of consistently achieving exceptional results in their prior coursework.

Merit-based, competitive, and selective

In keeping with Lund University's dedication to upholding its high standards of academic excellence, the Global Scholarship program is competitive and selective. Only the most worthy applicants with a track record of academic excellence are awarded this distinguished prize thanks to the strict selection process. The foundation is merit, and grantees are selected according to their academic standing and fit with the wide range of programs offered by Lund University.

Partial to Full Tuition Fee Coverage

One of the standout features of the Lund University Global Scholarship is its flexibility in catering to the financial needs of deserving students. The scholarship grants may cover a portion of the tuition fee or extend to a full coverage, depending on the budget allocated to the specific program or faculty. This flexibility ensures that academic brilliance is not hindered by financial constraints.

Budget Driven, Not Academic Level Dependent

It’s important to note that the percentage of the scholarship awarded is determined by the budget available to the respective program or faculty. This methodology ensures that the scholarship remains inclusive, irrespective of the academic level of excellence displayed by the student. Lund University recognises that talent knows no financial boundaries and the scholarship program reflects this commitment to providing equal opportunities to all deserving candidates.

Tuition Fee Focus: Living Costs Not Included

While the Lund University Global Scholarship serves as a powerful financial aid tool, it’s essential to understand its specific focus. The scholarship is directed solely towards tuition fees and does not extend to covering living costs. This distinction is vital for prospective applicants to bear in mind, as successful recipients are expected to secure the means to fund their living expenses.

Living Costs Responsibility and Swedish Migration Agency Compliance

Acknowledging the practicalities of student life, Lund University emphasizes that scholarship recipients must be equipped to fund their living costs independently. This aligns with the requirements set forth by the Swedish Migration Agency, ensuring that students can comfortably sustain themselves throughout their academic journey.

When and how to apply

The Lund University Global Scholarship 2023 application is now closed. The next application period will open in February 2024. You will find a link with application instructions on this page when the application period is open.

To be able to apply and be considered for a Lund University Global Scholarship, you must first have applied to the programme(s) you wish to study at Lund University. You do this through the online, national application website – www.universityadmissions.se – during the application period. Once you have made a complete application to studies leading to a degree and have paid the application fee, you will be able to apply for the scholarship. Note that the scholarship portal is different from the national application portal for studies. The link to the scholarship application portal is published here on this web page during the scholarship application period.

If you are applying to a programme in Fine Art or Music or applying in the later application round, March – April, you will be contacted via email regarding when and how to apply for the scholarship.

When to apply to programmes and courses

As part of the online scholarship application, you need to upload your personal ‘scholarship motivation letter’ (maximum 600 words) in the scholarship application portal. Please note that the scholarship motivation letter is different from any statement of purpose you may be required to submit as part of your programme specific application documents. Your scholarship motivation letter should explain why your academic performance and reasons for applying to Lund University make you a suitable potential recipient for a Lund University Global Scholarship.

You can only apply for one Lund University Global Scholarship for the programmes that you have selected at Lund University in a specific application round. However, it is possible for you to apply for other scholarships, for example, the Swedish Institute scholarships in addition.

Selection process – based on academic merits

The selection process for scholarships is undertaken in parallel with the programme/course selection process. Priority will be given to students with high academic performance, who are assessed as a good fit for the programme, who demonstrate a strong commitment and desire to study at Lund University and who have selected a programme/course at Lund University as their first choice/choices when applying at www.universityadmissions.se.

As the scholarship is merit based only, no consideration is taken of the student’s financial needs in the selection process.
